Anybody who has spent some time with a planning couple or attended enough weddings will know that a lot of the ‘success’ in the planning process is accomplished in the fine-tuned details. Wedding stationery is one aspect of your wedding that you don’t want to spend too much time on, but you want to look nice and be unique enough as to almost give a BTS glance into what you’re creating for your special day – and you pull that off in the small details. While there are so many different ways to make your stationery stand out, here are a few different things you can add to give it an extra unique flare.
Envelope Liners
A cute and fun way to give your invitations a pop of color and design is to add envelope liners. While this is small, it allows you to personalize the envelope itself which is something most people overlook when it comes to wedding invites. This is also a great way to enhance your wedding theme as you can put designs in addition to colors!
Layered Paper
Not only will this bulk up your stationary (literally) but it will also give it a little extra pop of color. This is a relatively cheap way to up your invites as it is less than liners but better than leaving the paper plain. I would suggest combining this with one or two other techniques listed as it is relatively simple but leaves a lot of room for other creative ideas to be implemented.
Velum Overlays
This is similar to the previous technique but a little more extra. Personally, I adore this look with the silky thin invite layered over an engagement shoot picture or backdrop of your choice. It would also be fun to put a watercolor background or cardstock design page. I’ve also seen it done where the overlay is clipped onto the backdrop in a small but tasteful way to add even more personalization.
Cut-outs
This can be taken two ways: you can either add additional paper cutouts into the stationery envelope, or you can add design cutouts to the paper itself. Both are creative ideas and both are definitely going to give your stationery a unique look. Altering the invite itself is also DIYable if you simply get yourself a cut-out tool and take it to the bottom or sides of the invitation.
Colored Envelopes
This technique is pretty self-explanatory but also a great way to set your wedding apart in a simple yet effective way. Whether you have a Christmas wedding and you go with a royal red envelope or you’re getting married in the spring and rotate between three pastel colors, this trend can work for any wedding and is simple enough to be able to do on your own.
Get your own stamp
If you are one of the couples that decided to invest in your own wedding branding – this idea is for you. Not only is this extremely simple and cheaper than the wax seal (another great idea), but you can do it all on your own and it looks very sophisticated. This is also something you can throw on your invites at the last second if you need a little extra something to set it apart.
