Back in the early 2000s blogging was a whole business and those that jumped in early were able to make good money. Nowadays while blogging is a good business practice in general, it can be a challenge to make a sustainable income from blogging. Many times, blogging is only one piece of a business’s income stream. So how can you turn blogging into a sustainable piece of your business?
The best way to monetize a blog is to simply provide value. Answer the questions that people are looking for in your niche and you’ll be able to find consistent visits to your website. Think about how you search for answers to questions you have in your own life. When you go to Google, nine times out of ten, the answers to questions will be find in blog posts. Make sure your posts are optimized for SEO so that they can be easily found through things like Google searches. Once you’ve built a library of content that people are looking for, you can utilize sites like Pinterest to share and bring people to your site.
The writing itself isn’t what brings in the dollars outside of ad revenue. It’s everything else on top of that.

Here’s something that bloggers don’t share too often – True blog monetization happens outside of the actual blog writing. When you start to have visits to your site, you can ultimately monetize. Think of what works best for your audience. How else would they like to consume content? Maybe it’s through courses or memberships. If you have the traffic, then traditional ads will work. You can even try affiliate marketing or creating digital products. Blogging as a business ultimately comes down to converting those who are coming to your site for the content into buyers of other products and/or services.
