It’s time for another Hot Seat! In this month’s Hot Seat episode of the Strategy for Creatives podcast, I’m taking a deep dive into how to better focus on all those ideas you have! Hot Seat episodes are where I talk to real business owners and take a deep dive into their business struggles. In this episode, I’m talking with Nicole, owner of The Fulfilled Classroom who, like any true creative, has trouble deciding which of her many ideas to focus on. She also is wondering who best to utilize her Facebook group and email list for growth.
Nicole is a wife, mom, teacher, author, and entrepreneur. After spending over a decade in the elementary classroom she is now working at the college level. She teaches academic upgrading and has launched her own business, The Fulfilled Classroom. She creates books and resources for educators to use in the classroom that focus on bringing gratitude, mindfulness, and joy into the lives of our students and teachers.
As a creative myself, I know that we are conceptualizing ideas. But a lot of us lack the ability to focus on the follow-through, which can be challenging. I’ve obviously had many iterations of my own business. I have interests and ideas all over the map! It can be a challenge to take all those ideas in our notebooks and really figure out which ones deserve our attention. Aligning our ideas to the goals we have for our business can help us identify what’s worth our time. I always recommend doing a quarterly check-in on whether what we’re working on truly aligns with our goals. It’s okay to reevaluate and move on to something that’s going to better serve our business.
