Whenever I add new products to the shop, I very rarely have any reasoning behind it. Most of the time I thought it would be a cute design and I like it. But when I started to develop The Queen Collection, I wanted to do something different. If I learned anything during 2020, it’s truly the power of women.
On The Swirl & Sip Podcast, we talk a lot about what modern womanhood looks like and how different it is from our grandmothers and even our own moms. Covid has shown how much of an impact we make in society. We are the ones running households and work meetings. I was filled with joy watching Kamala Harris get sworn in as the new Vice President. When I see Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez showing how young Puerto Rican women can bust through the political sphere, Beyonce ruling every aspect of entertainment and fashion, and Rihanna using beauty to show off all the hues of women, I’m inspired. The ever-elusive glass ceiling is showing signs of cracking.
I wanted The Queen Collection to be a powerful reminder for women. We are unstoppable. In motherhood, I learned how easy it is to compare ourselves to others. To see our flaws instead of our strengths. I wanted to create a collection that showed our strengths and help us feel confident when we may not feel like it on the inside. This isn’t a big collection, but the items I chose to add to the shop are a reflection of what I believe us women to be in all aspects of our lives – Queens.
