The wedding planning process can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! With proper organization, things can be simplified and stress-free. In this post, we are going to cover a few quick tips to help you with handling everything!
Develop a to-do list
Think of as many items you can that you need to have completed for your ideal wedding day. Major things like wedding day attire to minor items like who is walking Nana down the aisle. Don’t be overwhelmed by this list, but be encouraged that you are handling everything properly! If you are having trouble developing this list, partner with friends, or check out a Google search to get it all together.
Create a timeline
No matter how short or long your engagement will be, you will need to develop a timeline to complete all of your significant items. Most vendors schedule far in advance, and their availability can be tight. Handle the major vendors first such as florist, photographer, and venue. Having those covered from the beginning can allow other smaller items to fall into place easily.
Schedule check-ins
Pick dates with your spouse-to-be and family to meet up and review the task timeline. Set up a time that works for the majority of those you want to be involved, but know that it’s okay if not everyone can show up. Select a space or place that can allow you all to have a little bit of fun too like a restaurant. Incorporate some more lightheartedness into the planning process. It will undoubtedly make things more enjoyable. These check-ins will serve as accountability for you to complete tasks in your timeline, along with keeping everyone in the loop. Things can get pretty crazy during the last few months of planning, so make sure you include one closer to the date to get everything handled.
Be willing to ask for help
Have a friend that is uber organized? Your mom offered to hire a wedding coordinator? Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Just because it is your wedding, it does not mean you have to do it all! If you have the budget, a wedding coordinator is a great resource to use. If not, no worries. Recruit dependable friends and family to help lighten your load. They will be so excited to be involved and grateful to help make the day unique for you and your loved one!
Keep a paper trail
One of the most helpful things you can do during your wedding planning process is to create a wedding binder. In this binder, we recommend a few things to get things properly set up!
What to include in your wedding planning binder:
- Blank calendars to add in your task timeline
- Tab dividers for each vendor
- Note pages for vendor meetings
- Binder pocket to hold items that will be hole punched later
- Inspiration photos to share with vendors
- Pen/pencil
This binder can hold receipts, vendor agreements, photos, and more. Having photos printed out from a wedding Pinterest board or things you love that you see online can be extremely helpful for vendor consultations. Pictures are worth a 1000 words, right? Let the images do the talking for your vision.
