Summer wedding season is upon us and if you’re reading this it probably means you or someone you know is planning for a wedding (or you’re just planning your future wedding, I appreciate how prepared you are). There are so many new trends that are circulating through the wedding world but here are a few of my favorites:
Mix up the wedding cake

The traditional white Bridal cake and chocolate Groom cake are old news. With a new variety of gorgeous and delicious flavors, you will find many couples straying away from the classics and taking a more personalized approach for their wedding cake. If you still want to stick with the classic white cake with flowers and traditional toppers you can still vary up the flavors to something that you love instead of just the traditional white cake. One of my favorite ideas is red velvet with white icing!
Dainty florals, large greenery

This gives off flawless royal wedding vibes, and is perfect for spring or summer. Picture massive greenery bouquets with pops of white or light colored flowers mixed in to make it look more natural and not too overwhelming. This combination can also give you the ability to decorate your venue with more greenery and flowers. I love how fabulous the florals enhance any space!
Stray away from the pastels

Weddings have traditionally been known as lightly colored with light pink and white dominating the color scheme… not anymore. Rich colors and jewel tones are making quite the comeback in modern weddings all over. It is not uncommon to find purples, blues and dark greens mixed in with the lighter colors to create a personalized atmosphere while still keeping the atmosphere light and bright.
Event Branding

The business world is stepping into modern weddings through this new theme. Event branding is common with companies but has increasingly been seen in wedding invitations, seals, and other aspects of the wedding day itself. The appeal of the brand is pretty evident as it gives such a high level of sophistication to your event. Branding can also provide a manufactured emotion to set the stage for guests to know what your event is going to look like months prior.
Food Stations

Say goodbye to the overly general buffet and get creative with personalized food stations for your special day. The cool thing about these is that you can actually save some money by creating stations like popcorn or candy that you can set up yourself the day before to save time. If your wedding is a long affair it also might be nice to have a few open prior to the reception for the guests. One of my favorite ideas in this category is a massive charcuterie food station!
They key here is to go beyond the traditional and think outside the box! Sure, you can incorporate tidbits of the traditional styles that we know and love, but spruce it up a bit. Looking for more wedding inspiration? Check out my Instagram!
