On Saturday, I was able to help host a baby shower for my fabulous sis-in-law. I’m super excited about the arrival of the little bundle of joy (due in August) and loved getting everything ready for her shower. The parents-to-be aren’t finding out the sex of the baby until it arrives so they’ve chosen a very neutral (and trendy) nursery theme – a grey and yellow safari! I was in charge of decor, so I went crazy with everything. I’m in love with how everything turned out.
In lieu of a tradition “Welcome Baby So & So” banner, I created the “Congratulations” banner instead along with the backdrop and yellow and grey puff balls. I also came up with the fabulous safari themed diaper cake with onesie cupcakes. I think this was my favorite piece of the whole table. I went with neutral colors for the onesie cupcakes since we don’t know what it is yet.
I also made custom desserts to go along with the theme including chocolate dipped marshmallow pops, Oreo pops, baby-themed pretzel pops, animal crackers in gift boxes and chocolate chip cookies with custom labels on the wrapper. For the cake table, we went a little bit more safari themed and covered the cake with greenery, as well as adding an African drum. I also added some ferns to the brownie tray just to spice things up a bit.
Overall, I loved the way everything turned out. This shower was very personal to me and it was important that I came up with something that the parents-to-be would be happy with. Because I’m an only child, this baby will be the closest I’ll get to having a niece or a nephew and I can’t wait to meet him or her. I’m also super excited for my boyfriend because him and his sister have a close relationship and I know he’s looking forward to being an uncle.
